Leucate est le spot de kite le plus célèbre de France, surnommé la capitale européenne du vent. Deux vents dominent : la Tramontane (NW, puissant et régulier) et le Marin (SE, chaud). La plage de La Franqui et l'étang de Leucate offrent des conditions variées — vagues côté mer, flat sur l'étang.
