Sotavento lagoon is one of the most famous flat-water kite spots on the planet — host of the annual Kite World Cup. The natural lagoon provides pristine flat water conditions thanks to a sand bar protecting it from Atlantic swells. NE trade winds blow with remarkable consistency from June to October, making it a paradise for freestylers and foilers alike.
Shallow lagoon — watch for submerged sand bars. Can get very crowded during the World Cup period. Sharp drop-off at the lagoon edge.Costa Calma, south Fuerteventura. The Sotavento beach hotel sits right at the spot. Regular flights from mainland Spain and Europe to El Matorral airport.
